BUMP

..back down to earth!!

Last few days poker has not been very nice.

Had a long MTT session, where I played about 8 MTT's on stars and only managed two mini cashes. As usual ran like a dog. Also think playing so much cash is really affectingmy MTT game. I am starting to get a little too loose. I had a couple of really decent stacks, but because I was deep I opnened up my game a little too much and paid for it tbh. I relly feel my MTT game has gone to rat shit recently. I might start having to work on it again tbh, as I usually like them. I have just never managed to bink a win in an MTT with over 1k players. Maybe that should be a target for 2010!

I also played teh APAT live game this weekend, where once again I was really unlucky. I got a double up early on when I made a good river call against a guy I thought was bluffing a high percentage of the time, plus he made a similar big bet earlier on a bluff and showed it. So I called with my over pair to the board and stacked him. I maintained it well for a while, then I lost most of the stack on a JQ7 board when I had the set of 7's. I bet as hard as I could but he couldn;t fold his draw. He got there on the river and made a small value bet, to which I made the crying call. Sigh.

I then worked hard with a few steals and plays to make my way back upto 20k.

I finally nearly lost all my chips on this hand...

UTG+1 a bad player makes a 4 x BB raise. I flat inLP,which I had done quite a few times vs him. A lass in the BB, who I thought was pretty good (she was to be fair) then makes a squeeze, just over min raise of the initial bettor. He takes a while and then calls. I now see my chance with my pocket tens, realise there is a lot of dead money in the pot and so I move over the top all in. By now she has bet 3.6k of here 15k stack. She sits there and tells me she has to call as she is committed. She does and flips over 99! weeeeee. Plus blinds and antes its almost a 40k pot at the time when the avg was about 18k. Ofc a 9 hits the flop and my stack is fucked. F M L. That really suckedfor me.

I am then left with less than 10 BB's when the level moves up and I make a few shoves. No calls. I move to another table, where a weak player from my previous table is on the BB with about 8 BB's. So I shove from MP with 78s and he decides to look me up for his stack with K6o.. wtf? As usual I flop an 8, but the river brings his King. So pathetic.

A big well done to Kronsdat though, whowenton to take 2nd spot for 2.2k! weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Nice guy, well deserved IMO.

Last night I played a little cash and my horrific luck continued. I took a shot at NL100. With about 10 hands I had lost two stacks. One when I flopped a set of 3's on a 347 board. He bet flop hard, I moved in and he insta calls with 55???? turn is a 9 anmd river and god-damned-fucking 8 for his straight.

2 hands later, he opens UTG and I three bet him on the button with KK. Board comes down fairly raggy with two diamonds. He check raisesmesoI shove it in. He flopped a fucking set. arghhhhh FUCK OFF!!!

I then did the worst thing ever and the gambler in me came out. I opened roulette and proceeded to spew off another $200. I am such a dickhead sometimes. Fucking pathetic if I am honest.meh.

I think I need to do a bit poker trainig and re-adjusting the next few nights. Don't want that crap again.

ok cheers for reading

Weekend - Live Poker FTW

So this weekend is the English Poker Championships, run by APAT. These tournaments are normally very well organised and run, so I am looking forward to it a lot. The only issue is that it coincides with my back-to-back weekend at work. So I'll be working Wed, Thurs, Friday Mon, Tues + Wednesday night (I booked Sunday off!)

The tournament starts at 2.30pm, so with about a 50-60 min drive ahead I am hoping to get away for about three-ish and get there around 4. Missing the first two levels, but its either that or I turn up completely fucked and probably play like a tard. I have no choice really I have to work Friday night as I have hardly any holidays left! I also gotta at least spend an hour with the Mrs and Lad before I go. I can;t imagine the earache if I just got up and fucked off after hardly seeing them for the last three days.

I have played APAT tourneys before (online and live) and the standard is pretty good to be fair. These all tend to be players with an interest in the game further than just a casual donk. The Tourney is 10k starting stacks and 45 min levels. Should make for plenty of play and hopefully I can stepup where I got unlucky in Nottingham.

Looking forward to meeting back up with No Cash, Snakey, Ant and looking forward to meeting Kronsdat for the first time. Should be fun. Just hope I didn;t book Sunday night off work for nothing!!!!

Also noticed NoCash mentioned a regular £40 TC at the Blackpool Grosvenor, which runs every Thursday night. Figure I'll prolly treat mysel;f to that too next week after the B-2-B. Anyone who fancies it is welcome to meet us there.

Ok, time to make our eyes smile again:

Quick Joke:

A man comes home from work, only to find his wife packing her suitcase.
"What you doing then?" he asks her. "I am off to Vegas" she replies. "Oh yeah and why's that?" asks the man. " In Vegas they are paying $200 an hour for what I am giving you for absolutely nothing" she retorts.
The man looks at her for one second and says "wait there". He rushes off upstairs. After some bumping and banging, she looks up and see's him coming downstairs with his suitcase packed.
"where the hell are you going?" she asks.

"Well" he says " I am coming with you. I can't fucking wait to see how you live of $400 a year!!".

Mainly Cash

TBH, not been playing that much last couple of days. Just not found any juicy enough games running, but when I have, I have sat and played. Doing quite well actually and continuously building the roll.

Had an interesting night last night when myself, Gorvacofin, richeh, GregSearston, Snake_eys and Cogs organised a 6-max sweat session, with Cogsgoigne being the chosen player. TBH it was a little dis-organised and crazy at times with everyone speaking and Cogs, finding it impossible to get a str8 answer for his plays!

I think next time one person plays, the rest spectate and highlights hands for discussion afterwards, it will be a ton easier. I am really into the 6-max now and although there are still a few leaks it was good to hear from more seasoned players, that I wasn;t making too many mistakes and maximising value in most spots, which is obv essential for cash games.

I played a couple of SnG's on Stars, but my hands failed to hold again and the usual shit tbh. There is one player who is a reg, Jcar59 or something and I swear that guy wins almost every fucking showdown. Not just vs me, but vs everyone. it was pretty crazy to watch him at most of my tables, just sucking out and always holding. I wish i ran that good. In my final game I got it in against him with KT to his QT, but ofc he turned a str8 and I bustoed. I noticed this about him previously though, he is just genuinely very lucky. Don;t get me wrong he is very good too, but fuck me, I wanna run that hot, just for one week and I'd be happy!

Think I'm bitter? Lol. course I am!!!

hardly played any SnG's on iPoker because i just haven;t had the inclination to play. I might even have an MTT session tonight, who knows!!

Anyways, why not have a sexy lady on today's post?

Donkilicious

Just had a super quick session at work (mobile broadband FTW). Just sat at two NL50 tables. I noticed two fish on one of them. One playing 82/57/2.0 and directly to his left another one playing 81/35/1.29. Well all my fucking dreams came at once!! Now, I just had to get their chips before one of the other players did....

..but did I manage to stack any of them... Fucking right I did!! weeee. I stacked one of em twice!!! weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I kept raising and 3-betting to isolate them, but at the same time it seemed to be tilting them because they kept paying to see the flop from the blinds when I was on the button. I was super sweet.

One hand where I got both stacks at once...

I am on the button with AKs. I make it $1.50 to play. Donkey nuts to my left, the more aggro of the two, makes it $2.50 (wtf!!! lol), donkey nuts the second makes the insta call. So, right now I feel AKs is far far ahead of their ranges it's not even funny, so I 4-bet it to $12. Donkey nuts the first, calls. Donkey nuts number two then shoves for a total of $29. I tank, then shove over the top to isolate him for a full $50 stack. Donkey nuts on my left insta calls....

Flop is K, 3, 4 with 2 diamonds. Turn is Q and rier is 2d. I instantly think that I am playing on stars and one of them just hit the flush... but alas, the full pot is shipped my way!!!! weeeeeeeee

Their hole cards then pop up thanks the the poker tracker HUD and guess what these two geniuses had?..

Donkey Nuts 1 = 55

Donkey Nuts two = 68o

weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Now for the even better news... they both reload!! one timeeeeeeeeee

Basically I stack the more passive of the donks again, with the same hand, AKs. Basically flop was KTx with two of my suit. I lead the flop and he called a pretty big bet. Turn gave me the nuts flush, so I checked it to him and he insta shoved his stack in. I immediately call and he is drawing dead with JQo!!

Yeah baby!

The only downside was that shortly after my internet connection dropped and I couldn;t get back on. When I finally did they had both gone.

Shyte I wish every session could be like that. You catch the fish and they don't suckout, so sweet.

I basically played a total of 94 hands for a profit of $154.99 :-) Now all I gotta do is make sure I don;t piss it away back to the sharks.

Morale of the story - Table selection FTW!

We can all dream

These night shifts are quite tough. I basically sleep and work with no time for fuckall else. By the time you add travelling on its heading for 14 hour nights. Setting off at like 6.40pm and not landing back till like 8.30am, then getting to bed after seeing the little un about 9ish. Then up at 5pm, shower, shave, have some breakky, see lad and mrs, then its back off to work... man fuck the rat race!!!

I sometimes dream of moving to a sunnier climate and playing poker for a living. I mean that would be perfect, but in reality nothing is as easy as that. Once the pressure is on you to HAVE to make money just to pay the bills I can imagine poker becoming a chore rather than something I enjoy and make a little extra cash from. I can;t imagine how much more the bad beats would destroy me if it meant hitting my target for that week to pay the rent/mortgage w/e.

Also, its about your own ability. I know I do ok now and beat the game, but could I sustain that to make a good living from it? I don;t think I am good enough tbh. I doubt there are many pro's who make their living from less than NL100. Poker is so tough now compared to pre UIGEA, there is just no where near as much dead money to be made.

I know it would be nice and I dream of the life of a pro..., but I always remember this: the grass is not always greener on the other side.

I have a well paid job in a sector that tbh is doing pretty badly. I know how lucky I am and my company is doing really well. We get regular payrises, decent pensions, sick pay, holiday pay and share benfits. I mean it would simply be too much to ever walk away from.

It's still nice to always have that dream though, of just leaving the rat race, cut out the long shifts and make a fortune playing poker.

Unfortunately, for me personally, I doubt it could ever become a reality.
Dreams are what keep us going. It never hurts to have them.

Burn baby Burn!

A positive post coming up!! weeeeeeee

All things considrered, its going well!

On stars I am turning profit again in the 16's. finally my hands are starting to hold and I am even getting the odd suckout!! :-). Not played too many, just playing the odd set of 6 here and there, until the confidence returns, but made a nice little profit of about $250 over about 18 games. Finally a mini heater. Also avoiding playing these in the evenings when they full of the American regs. No point reducing my EV to next to nothing when 8 of the 18 are good regs! Ill stick to playing the SpuEroDonks thanyou :-)

On iPoker, I am doing decently in the Multi-table SnG's. Some of them are a bit of a crapshoot, but overall these are supersoft and I think so far, I have turned a profit in every single session except one. It's just a shame they don't run as often. They can take a little while to fill, but when you see the players that enter, especially the French (hehe) they are well worth the wait!

On the cash side of things, I have won another 2 buy-ins. Game selection remains the single most important thing here as there are a ton of Regular grinders in these who are obviously just whoring the rakeback to shyte, but you can see their tables from a mile away with like 40% of players seeing flops. Where as I only play tables with 52%+ and you can guarantee these tables always contain a fish or two. my only worry is that the site is on Microgaming, and I don;t trust those fuckers as far as I could throw them.I suppose it's a risk i need to take to play the soft games.

Another sweet thng, for all us British players, is that the GBP is getting weaker vs the USD. meaning our poker monies is becoming more and more valuable. Read it on the forum.

Well I hope it continues like this and I hope you are running good.

Plodding on.

Got your attention? lolol. Pervy bastards!
So I have continued playing the NL50 and the odd NL100 game if it was juicy enough, but its been a tale of ups and downs. I have only been playing 1-3 tables, as I feel reads are wayyyy more important in cash than SnG's.

It started really well, but then came the spewy session and I dissolved all my orignal profits by trying to make things happen and trying to push calling stations off hands.

I then made a decent profit again, but tonight once again spewed some back. Was really tough tonight, I was raising my normal range in LP, but getting lots of calls out of the blinds (as I wanted to), but just kept missing the flops. The flops I bluffed at I got floated so much and even tried a three barrel bluff where i got called down with 2nd pair. The table was super sweet, TWO guys with VP$IP's over 70. One was a 72 and the other a 80, but i just could not hit to stack them!! Frustrating as fuck, but on another day I stack them both!

So I have made about 3 buy-ins now, which is still profit and thats gotta be good, but I feel it could have been so much more. I spose one good thing is the rakeback, Thank fuck for rakeback! haha

Today, I also dared to venture back to that shithole, pokerstars. I played 6 SnG's, the 16's and finished 2nd in 2 of them and once again a ridonkulous amount of beats. Really pathetic shit, like the good old 4 flushes. Meh, my mindset is fucked for that site, but at least I made profit.

I also played 3 little MTT's tonight. 2 for the Syndicate games and one just to fill the time. One was the $5 turbo at 8pm, one the Sunday Quarter of a Mill and also the 15k GTD. I managed a min cash in the Quarter mill and fuckall in the others, but one thing I am sure of, the standard is getting worse. It really is, I have no idea why, whether there are more new fish or if the other playsers have always been this bad, but people were more than happy to stack of with 3rd pair, gutshots, any overcards etc etc. it was unreal. TBH, apart from the high stakes guys, I have no clue why anyone would want to continuosly play MTT's with thousands of runners where its only really worth it if you gt top 5. I men the amount of luck required in those fields is incredible. Fuck that!

Anyways thats all for now, i'll stop rambling shyte and let you get back to your games!

The Change

As you might have guessed I had a pretty cold run in the 16's on Stars recently, so much so I started questioning everything: My game, the RNG and even my sanity. As a few of the commentors pointed out, either take a break or change sites for a while to get yourself back in the correct frame of mind.

That is exactly what I have done. I moved some funds around so that I can play a little cash again to break up the harsh variance of SnG's. So I deposited on Purple Lounge and decided to play some 6 max NL50 and tbh I am enjoying it. The games are fairly soft and I am making ok money from it.

I am primarily a sng player though and that's where I will head back once I am in the right frame of mind again. I have left myself properly rolled for the 16's on stars and the 30's on iPoker. I might play a few this weekend and see how it goes.

One thing is for sure the swings of poker are a serious mental hurdle for any player and I really have to take my hat off to anyone who can do this for a living. Its bad enough as a casual player, never mind if I depended on it to pay my bills.

you guys have my admiration!

anyways its nice to post a positive blog for once!

Not to mention the fucking countless races I lost with AK and my pocket pairs. I don;t know what else to do with stars. I think i am going to be left ith no option but to withdraw all my money on there and play elsewhere. I simply cannot beat the RNG. I can beat the players, I know i can, but I can beat the continuos suckouts and bad beats.

goodbye pokerstars. I love your software, but your RNG is beyond realistic.

Pokerstars...

Is a complete and utter twat. I don;t need to tell some of you, but the amount of money the ridiculous fucking beats has cost me tonight is not even funny. In fact it's fucking pathetic. 4 flushed at least 4 times when AIPF and when my A with a good kicker comes up against their Ace with a shit kicker, they always manage to hit that fucking shit kicker. Its ridiculous.

I have played equal amounts on ipoker in the last few days and I can tell you it's not even close to the way the Stars RNG behaves. Yeah there are outdraws, but not even close to as often as there are on stars. I am now on super-mokey-steaming-bastard-tilt.

Thanks stars you fucking rigged piece of shit.

How can the best looking, most playable and user friendly software in online poker, be so fucking ridiculous with its RNG.

bye.

Weekend starts here...

And so does grinding! So, work is doen now until wednesday night, so I have a little plan. I am gonna start out early evening playing the iPoker Multi table SnG's, whilst there are most fish online and then when i have finished move onto the 16's on stars. I'll try this tonight and see how it goes.

Also been contemplating player upto $50 single table sng's on iPoker as I don;t consider the competition to be anywhere as tough as stars and full tilt. I might throw a few sessions of those in soon and see how I go.

On a none poker front I have had a mess about with my blog design and got the 3-column thingy sorted. Also updated my blog list and removed all the blogs that hadn;t been updated in quite a while, as well as adding some new ones. Have a look through, there are some excellent bloggers out there you should be linking up with and reading.

Anways, thats all right now, hope you are well.
